It is important to maintain the current setup of everybody registering to play with Brett & Barnsey prior to the day. The clubs we are visiting need a register of attendees as part of their Covid plans. We also need to be fair as it is important the number of players who turn up to play aligns with the number we booked for – these are very tough times for them. If we’re organized, it is much easier for us and for the various Golf Clubs.
Now that people are accustomed to it, early registration makes life much simpler for the Captain & Vice Captain who can be organized before the day. The other bonus is for players who know what time they’re teeing off - better to have an extra hour in a warm bed than standing around a chilly green waiting for the 7’s to finally tee off.
I would like to sincerely thank Dave Robinson for his persistent efforts in getting us sorted out so well under the current circumstances. He has also pulled off a mighty effort to arrange a couple of games to slot in around the time of the cancelled trip away. This has not been an easy feat as there has been and still are, a number of clubs restricted to members only, with social groups not allowed. Hopefully the rest of the year can fall into place as per our calendar.
I am currently liaising with the Stafford Tavern to organise a Saturday lunch / race day on September 12th. This will also include wives - we know how much they love an afternoon on the punt so that they have a chance to further increase their winnings from last year’s race day! There will be more details about this later.
Cheers,
Paul
